Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Construction Manager to strengthen our team in Dubai. This is a Home Office position based in Dubai and it will involve occasional visits to the customer offices and/or site in Iraq.

  • To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems across the entire project.
  • Lead construction involvement during FEED process.
  • Ensure optimal model layout has been produced as part of the Feed package.
  • Ensure all construction specifications are being adhered to.
  • Be fully familiarized with the contract requirements, Wood policies and procedures.
  • Support, promote, and champion the Wood Core Values throughout Project Execution.
  • Advise Feed team on best construction installation techniques.
  • To conduct an assessment of project constructability, logistics, transport, mechanical handling and prefabrication constraints, and develop suitable project construction documents in support of the Feed package.
  • To prepare and lead constructability presentation reviews and solutions challenge and ensure that optimum project design is delivered by the FEED process.
  • Adhoc visual site visits to Iraq with the FEED team to verify constructability of FEED Projects.
  • Manage interfaces between PMC FEED Team and FOD Operations construction personnel.
  • Review contract documents for each Construction Package in respect of execution requirements and procedures and advise Project Manager of any deficiency.
  • Review Contractor(s) proposed organization to ensure Construction is adequately addressed in all locations.
  • Participate in Weekly and Monthly meetings.

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND plus/or Trade Qualifications and experience may be considered acceptable.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Construction delivery for major onshore Oil and Gas projects.
  • Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred.

Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum 15 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with 5 years in Construction management.
  • Previous experience of working with Wood is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience: Brownfield / Greenfield projects construction experience.
  • Experience with project using prefabricated, packages plant modules.
  • Mechanical and piping background.
  • Good general civil knowledge.
  • Experienced in estimating / scheduling of large construction projects.
  • Experience of working on Feed projects.
  • Highly motivated and self-reliant.
