Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Engineer – Electrical and Instrumentation to strengthen our team.

This is UAE (Dubai or Abu Dhabi) Residential position and will require trips into Iraq, Basra.
  • Supports and promotes all areas of HSE criteria with the In-Country Counter-parts (Coordinate with Out-of-Country HSE Management)
  • Supports both the Construction Manager and the Lead Construction Engineer on all ongoing aspects of the project
  • Continually informs/appraises the Lead Construction Engineer for overall status, progress and constraints
  • Coordinates all aspects of the project for timely deliverables throughout
  • Performs site visits as required (Liaise with Client representation) as well as WOOD site based operatives
  • Interfacing with Engineering, Supply Chain and project controls on a daily basis
  • Supports the Lead Construction Engineer on scheduled based detail (also liaise with Projects control division)
  • Interact with Client, engineering and site based personnel on the required Constructability reviews and Readiness reviews
  • Liaise closely with the relevant Workpack engineers for timely formulation/Issuance of progressive Workpacks
  • Implement and maintain a philosophy of continuous improvement for both quality and ‘Cost’ improvement
  • Attend / chair - daily weekly meetings as required
  • Work with Projects and Contracts divisions to monitor any Variations to scope
  • Review with engineering for any areas of ‘cost-saving’ possibilities
  • Provide constructability input to designs
  • Coordinate with Lead Field Engineer on all aspects of ongoing workface activities
  • Identify and advise on Specialist Vendor Support, Tools and Equipment required to implement scope
  • Assist with construction input to ensure awareness and understanding of the various scopes of work
  • Working in a team environment
  • Involved in Effective Change Management
  • Liaise closely with Wood team In country
  • Assist in the coordination of required timely Constructability reviews, in line with Model progression
  • Drive through the required Constructability Readiness reviews for being addressed to suit the work-pack deliverable timing
  • Liaise strongly with site materials division for materials and equipment deliverables for alignment to the overall project schedules
  • Participate in HSE improvement activities, promoting HSE elements throughout Work as being progressed and installed
  • Full working knowledge of construction activities in relation to Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines
  • Assist with lessons learnt & addressing same for feedback and areas of action as required (Offer solutions and observations as required)
  • Ability to review engineering design drawings
Skills / Qualifications
  • Hold a degree in discipline engineering or Diploma
  • Heavy Field Construction experience essential with 10+ years experience in the Oil and Gas industries
  • Likely to have held management / supervisory roles previously
  • High level working knowledge of construction activities in relation to the relevant Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines
  • Very strong background and involvement on major projects (complex) in the Oil and Gas industries
  • Must have held previous positions to match this requirement
  • Must have strong ‘Co-ordination’ experience across various disciplines
  • Strong leadership qualities required
